With a total three rounds for the Formula Drift Canada Championship, Team Yokohama Tire Canada’s Pat Cyr & his Scion FR-S on Yokohama ADVAN AD08R tires takes the title of “Drifter of the Year” in his most successful season yet.
The road to the podium has been a long one, but well worth it. To kick off the 2015 season, Cyr came out guns blazing finishing strong in each round. With the 1stround taking the top spot on the podium, 2nd round with a small set back at 4th place, & 3rd round with an extremely close battle finishing 3rd place. With all 3 rounds in the books, Pat finished off the season with an impressive 235 points; taking the Formula Drift Canada Title!
”After 3 years of hard work, it feels great to receive the Formula Drift Canada driver of the year award at the wheel of my Scion FR-S. My team and I have worked very hard to build a winning platform and this season we proved that we had what it takes to do it. I look forward to strong results at the Formula World Round this September at l’Autodrome St-Eustache and can’t wait to defend my title next year” says Pat Cyr.
In the final round, Cyr faced some stiff competition at one of the most unforgiving courses in Montreal, Canada and with only 1 solid 30-minute practice run, it was going to be a challenge. First face off was against Jo Thiffault, both drivers made a few mistakes with both angle and proximity, but Cyr took the win in the judges eyes where he would face Tommy Boisvert-bellamare.
He and Pat have faced each other in every other round this year at FD Canada, so with a bit of competition, it was going to be a fight. With his 640 horsepowered 2JZ powered engine laying down power with Yokohama ADVAN AD08R’s, his competition was not able to keep proximity while in Cyr’s chase run, he kept the pressure on Tommy.
In the Final 4, Cyr faced Martin Langlois where both runs were very close and could have gone “One More Time”, but as this round eliminated that feature of Formula Drift, Pat did not move on to the finals, however, with Pat’s #1 Point & #1 qualifying, it placed him in 3rd place for this final round. With all points totaling 235, Pat Cyr has been declared Formula Drift Canada’s Drifter of the Year!
To wrap up this round, Cyr even had to chance to take the Mayor of Trois Rivieres, Yves Levesque along for a ride along with other well known drifters such as Vaughn Gittin Jr and Dean Kearny.
Pat & his team will be making their last Formula Drift Canada appearance in at Formula Drift World Championships held in Montreal September 6-7, 2015.
