RESULTS FROM FD PROSPEC ROUND 2
- Connor O’Sullivan (USA) – O’Sully Racing / RTS E46 BMW
- Amanda Sorensen (USA) – US Air Force / Sorensen Motorsports BMW
- Tommy Lemaire (Canada) – XPN Carbon-Kevlar Nissan S14.9
NOTES
- The Top 32 competition heats began in 95˚F weather, followed by a slightly cooler track during the final heats at night
- The track at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park is a former quarter-mile drag strip converted into a purpose-built drift arena
- All FD PROSPEC teams run on GT Radial spec tires and use Link ECUs
- Following the introduction of Thursday’s Seeding Bracket (replacing traditional solo qualifying runs), the leading 16 drivers had only participated in practice sessions prior to the Top 32 competition heats. Whereas positions 17-32 were populated by drivers who went through a 32-car Seeding Bracket to qualify, giving them considerably more track experience
- For the New Jersey round, if a driver puts two tires off the course, it will be considered an incomplete run. Tire drops for the lead car in Outside Zone 1 will be considered a more severe error than in previous years
- Brian Eggert (USA), Reese Marin (USA) and Vernon Zwaneveld (Netherlands) formed the Formula DRIFT judging panel in New Jersey
- O’Sullivan claimed his first Formula DRIFT win since joining the series as a Rookie in 2023. He defeated Lee Yearwood (USA), Cody Buchanan (USA) and Cory Talaska (USA) before facing Sorensen in the Final
- Sorensen’s second place finish represents her best result since joining the Link ECU PROSPEC Championship in 2021. It also meant she climbed from 36th to seventh in the points race
- Sorensen has become the first female driver in Formula DRIFT history to stand on the podium
- Lemaire’s third place allowed him to retain the overall points lead in the PROSPEC Championship, accumulating 170 points in total. He extended his lead from 16 to 28 points over O’Sullivan, who jumped from 13th to second
- Top Rookie was Luis Lanz (Venezuela) who finished 13th after placing 21st in the Seeding Bracket
- Round 3 of the Formula DRIFT Link ECU PROSPEC Championship will take place at World Wide Technology Raceway from July 18-20. Fans can enjoy the action in person or via the series livestream at youtube.com/Formuladrift
