As the traditional season opener, Long Beach gives fans a chance to see the new PRO Championship teams and drivers risk everything on one of the most demanding tracks on the calendar. The closed street course shows no mercy but rewards the brave. And the series has added more grandstands to the track to ensure everybody gets a great view of the action.
Among the new faces behind the wheel will be the top three drivers from the 2024 FD Link ECU PROSPEC Championship, who have taken advantage of the license upgrade to compete at the highest level. This includes the 2024 PROSPEC Champion Tommy Lemaire (Canada) as well as runners up Connor O’Sullivan (USA) and Austin Matta (USA). While this trio will be familiar to FD fans, they’ll be joined by PRO Championship rookies Luke Fink (Australia) and Jack Shanahan (Ireland). The brother of Conor, who made an immediate impact in the 2024 FD PRO Championship, Jack has an impressive resumé, including multiple British and Irish Drift Championship titles to his name and will be a name to watch throughout the year.
All five drivers will debut their PRO cars at the Long Beach Round on April 4-5 before heading out to the recently announced Formula DRIFT x GRIDLIFE Festival at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta on May 8-10. The unique event will showcase FD PRO Round 2 as well as FD Link ECU PROSPEC Championship Round 1 and a full GRIDLIFE track schedule, with multiple Championships taking to the road course for an incredible triple-header motorsports festival. It’s definitely an event not to be missed.
At every round, fans can visit the paddock area to see their favorite drivers and glimpse the intense vehicle preparation. Everybody is also invited to join the driver autograph session, which takes place at every round. Additionally, dedicated fans can sign up for a VIP package, which includes a track walk and collectible Formula DRIFT items. Photography enthusiasts can also sign up for the FD Photo Experiences – but don’t delay since places are limited. Details of all the ticketing options are available at formulad.com/schedule.
“We’ve introduced a number of changes over the last few years to significantly enhance the fan experience at every Formula DRIFT Round,” said Ryan Sage, President of Formula DRIFT. “This year will see a critical changes to even more facilities, particularly in providing more seating for fans. And we’re all excited to celebrate the inaugural Formula DRIFT x GRIDLIFE Festival at Road Atlanta.
