PRO NOTES
- Weather played a huge part in the FD PRO event. The Top 32 started in heavy rain although the track dried for the Top 16. However, a tornado warning was issued during the Top 8, accompanied by high winds, torrential rain, thunder and lightning. The drivers chose to continue running since Formula DRIFT doesn’t stop for a little weather! (safety permitting)
- This was the first FD PRO Championship win for Hughes and only his third podium. He was delighted to face Forsberg in the Final since he worked with Chris in 2014. “I learned everything I know about drifting from Chris Forsberg,” Hughes said. He climbs to fifth in the FD PRO Championship standings
- Forsberg narrowly missed out on the FD ORL win as he continues to develop the brand new Nissan Z. He climbed to third in the standings
- Aasbo placed third and retains his lead of the Championship. Matt Field (USA) was fourth in the Drift Cave / Falken Tire C6 Corvette and remains seccond in the standings
- Top Rookie was Daniel Stuke (USA) who finished 8th in the Stuke Racing / MspeK Performance Nissan S14.9
- After the Round 3, Toyota leads the 2022 Formula DRIFT PRO Auto Cup and Falken heads the Tire Cup
PROSPEC NOTES
- Link ECU PROSPEC competition heats were split across two days, with the Top 32 taking place during a lightning storm on Friday evening, which resulted in a wet track and numerous delays for spectator safety. Top 16 competition continued on Saturday morning in hot and humid conditions
- After missing part of the 2021 season to care for his dog and wait for his engine to be built, Hateley dominated the event in his new Hateley Motorsports BMW E46. Qualifying first and winning the Final against Hobson, this was Hateley’s first PROSPEC win since he first joined the series in 2006
- Bogovich took third thanks to a superior qualifying position over fourth place Robert Thorne (USA)
- Thorne, driving the ASMotorsport / Kats Coin BMW M3, was the top Rookie finisher and sits fourth in the PROSPEC standings
- Reigning and double PROSPEC Champion Dmitriy Brutskiy finished 12th in the DriftHQ / Link ECU / ISC Suspension / Enkei Wheels BMW M3 with Royal Purple after a challenging weekend
