PRO NOTES

  • Formula DRIFT revised the 2022 course layout at World Wide Technology Raceway, removing the Inside Clip and creating four Outside Zones to improve the track flow
  • Top 32 competition heats took place in blazing heat, with Top 16 through to the Final occurred after sunset
  • Taguchi claimed his first FD PRO Championship win since joining the series in 2018. It completed a perfect weekend after he qualified in first place. Taguchi is the fifth driver to win one of the five 2022 FD PRO rounds. The win moved him from 23rd in the Championship standings to tenth
  • An emotional Taguchi won the Final after a contentious collision with Tuerck on their first run. Tuerck’s GR Corolla slid into the back of Taguchi’s Scion FRS as they crossed the finish line. Unable to repair the Scion’s broken rear subframe in the allotted 10mins, and with Tuerck judged to be at fault, the win was awarded to Taguchi
  • With both drivers apologizing to Formula DRIFT fans and spectators, Tuerck was grateful for the points that elevated him one position to third in the standings
  • In an event punctuated by collisions, Taguchi reached the Final after third-placed Field was ruled at fault for contact during their Top 4 heat. Despite the setback, Field extended his lead of the FD PRO points race thanks to the early elimination of his closest rivals. He now has a 32-point lead over defending Champion, Fredric Aasbo (Norway)
  • Nick Noback (USA) was the leading PRO Rookie at FD STL. He reached the Top 8 heats for the first time in his KoruWorks E46 BMW and finished sixth. He now sits 22nd in the overall standings
  • After Round 5, Toyota continues to lead the 2022 Formula DRIFT PRO Auto Cup and Falken heads the Tire Cup

PROSPEC NOTES

  • Link ECU PROSPEC competition was split across two days, with the Top 32 heats taking place on Friday evening and the Top 16 to the Final completed on Saturday morning
  • The weather was dry for both sessions but extremely hot on Saturday
  • After entering PROSPEC in 2021, FD St Louis was the first win for Bogovich and his second 2022 podium. He climbs from sixth to third in the Championship table
  • Local driver Madison scored his second podium since joining the series in 2019. He was also awarded a Formula DRIFT Performance Reward for his impressive driving, knocking out many top names including the points leader Thorne and double Champion Brutskiy. Madison’s points tally allowed him to climb from eighth to fifth overall
  • Third place Brutskiy narrowly missed a perfect weekend after qualifying first. However, he scored more points than all the drivers above him in the Championship table, allowing Brutskiy to rise from fourth to second in the standings
  • Top Rookie Robert Thorne (USA) finished sixth in his ASMotorsport / Kats Coin BMW M3 and narrowly retains the Championship lead by one point from Brutskiy
  • All PROSPEC teams must use Link ECU engine management as well as GT Radial tires supplied and fitted by TireStacks
  • Throdle, FCP Euro and Royal Purple contingency programs are available for PROSPEC competitors who meet the defined criteria
