It warms our hearts every time Formula DRIFT shuts down the haters. The latest vindication comes from Round 7 at Texas Motor Speedway, the penultimate event of the 2016 season, where the tandem action was so evenly spread, competitors so equally matched, cars so ridiculously close to one another, we wouldn’t blame you if you were watching and literally on the edge of your seat for the entire contest. Ok, so yeah, it’s still a drag race – FD cars are powerful and fast, we get it – but with the judges encouraging chase drivers to take the gloves off and be aggressive, we saw a lot of wheelmen take the urging to heart and put the noses of their cars right up in other guys’ business.

It seems like a lot of people were surprised when the judges gave the match to Forsberg (including us, admittedly), but upon further review and explanation we now understand why Wang lost the round.

Amid controversy and confusion, Fredric Aasbo in the Rockstar Energy tC claims victory, Kristaps Bluss in the HGK Motorsport M3 picks up first FD career podium

E46 Tc Final

Formula DRIFT returned to the short oval at Orlando Speed World for Round 3 of 8 of its 2016 Pro Championship, and from the start everyone knew it would be different from last year’s rainy affair. The sun showed up this time, bringing unrelenting heat and humidity common to central Florida that wreaked havoc on both man and machine. In the end, 2015 series champion Fredric Aasbo behind the steering wheel of the Papadakis Racing Rockstar Energy Scion tC came out on top, but not without a lot of on-track drama and an equal amount of head scratching from a segment of fans.
