Developing a flair for the dramatics this Formula Drift season, Vaughn again wowed the audience by de-beading a tire yet still managing to complete his first qualifying run. Pushing a little too hard on his second run he left points on the track, but Vaughn and his RTR team know exactly what they need to do in their final practice today and anticipate a run late into the Georgia night.

Chelsea DeNofa To Start Season High 2nd In Today’s Formula Drift Competition

Chelsea went from zero to hero yesterday with his fans at Road Atlanta and across the Internet when he turned his first run zero into at second run 98 during qualifying. The 98-point run was enough to score him a second-place starting position for today’s ‘Round 3: Road to the Championship’ event where he will face Travis Reeder in the first round later today.

Chelsea DeNofa Seeks Back to Back Podiums at FD Atlanta

Good morning from Braselton, Georgia where Chelsea took to the track at Road Atlanta yesterday for the first time since his third-place finish in Orlando. Round 3 of the 2019 Black Magic Pro Championship season comes just two weeks after the Orlando competition and is the shortest turnaround time of the season, but off the truck Chelsea’s RTR team had his Spec 5-D dialed in making no substantial changes throughout the first day of practice.

We all saw what Vaughn’s RTR Motorsports team could do in under 20 minutes at Formula Drift Orlando so when his Spec 5-D rolled off the truck two weeks later here in Georgia it was definitely Ready to Rock! Turning some quality laps in both practice sessions yesterday, one remains this afternoon before Round 3: Road to the Championship qualifying begins here at Road Atlanta.

COLLISIONS SLOW VAUGHN GITTIN JR. AND RYAN TUERCK WHILE CHELSEA DENOFA FINDS THE PODIUM IN ORLANDO

As the first Formula Drift event of the season wrapped up in Long Beach, California, Ryan Tuerck was unsure of what car he would compete in for the second round in Long Beach. With just three weeks and a 2,500+ mile tow between Long Beach and the second round in Orlando, Florida, Tuerck and his Race Service team knew they had to make a quick decision. As many drivers took it easy on Sunday following the race, Tuerck and his team tore his competition Toyota GT86 down to the bones to evaluate the crash damage from a collision with the tire wall at the end of the final practice prior to the Top 32 tandem battles. The results weren’t very promising. A twisted strut tower, a rippled firewall and a transmission tunnel that looked more like an arch than a carefully fabricated tunnel were all signs that the chassis had probably seen its last competition.
