10. Taylor Hull Needs his Groove Back

It was just last season that Taylor Hull was the talk of Formula Drift as he pushed the big stars of the series around to OMT battle after OMT battle and went down every time with a fight. His 2021 Formula Drift season has started out much quieter, but we got to see a great glimpse of his hot tandem hands against Odi Bakchis in the Top 16. It was really a battle that belonged in the Final Four as these two guys laid everything out each time they had to run to try and push for a victory. Hopefully we can see more of this Taylor Hull at the end of the month when Formula Drift rolls into Evergreen Speedway.

10. Mike Power Stunned me during PROSPEC

Mike Power blew me away out of the gate with his amazing qualifying run that got scored at just a 91. This young driver started his drift career at Clubloose and now has a fantastic team behind him and a good looking S15 Silvia on top of that. Mike ended up losing to Alex Jagger, the PROSPEC driver for Chris Forsberg Racing, in a tight battle. Mike Power could have taken it all the way on another night at Englishtown but his qualifying lap was one to remember.

SERIES NEWS: INAUGURAL ENGLISHTOWN DRIFT ARENA SEES WINS FOR FIELD IN FORMULA DRIFT PRO AND BRUTSKIY IN PROSPEC CHAMPIONSHIPS

The most highly anticipated round of the 2020 Formula DRIFT season was undoubtedly the return to Old Bridge Township Raceway Park in Englishtown, NJ. The former NHRA drag strip had been transformed into a purpose-built drift arena; the first of its kind in the US and an indication of the growth and influence of Formula DRIFT. It also reflects the affinity of the track staff and management for the drift community – both the teams and fans. And with FD NJ wiped from the 2020 schedule by COVID-19 restrictions, the series was delighted to finally be running its first competitive Championships on the brand-new figure-8 course in front of packed grandstands.
