Formula Drift wrapped up their 16th season of competition with the season finale event at Irwindale Speedway, just east of Los Angeles, CA, on October 18th and 19th. While the results from the season finale weren’t quite as strong as many of the Nitto drivers had hoped for, the aggregate results of the season lead to some additional awards as earned through results, voted on by the fans, or voted on by the teams and staff who have been on the grid alongside the competitors through the entire season. October 18-19 Marked the final round of competition for Formula Drift in 2019. Drivers and teams returned to sunny Southern California, the home of FD to do battle one last time. The weather was perfect, the points were tight, and the stage was set for a fantastic event.

As if scripted by Hollywood screenwriters, the Formula DRIFT Black Magic PRO Championship would again result in a nail biting, heavyweight showdown at its Final round. And sticking with tradition, the Final took place at the House of Drift – Irwindale Speedway in Southern California – in front of a capacity crowd.

IRWINDALE, CA – Entering the “House of Drift” for Round 8’s Title Fight to the 2019 Black Magic Formula Drift Championship, Team Falken Driver and Defending Formula Drift Champion James Deane had one job to do and that was to become the first Formula D driver to win three championships in a row, and that was what he did, through his third place finish at Irwindale Speedway Saturday, October 19, 2019.
