Ken Gushi Takes Second Place at Formula DRIFT Texas
Ken Gushi moves to 2nd in overall 2015 Championship Standings
Though at times it was dramatic, there’s no questioning how action-packed Formula Drift was this past weekend at the Texas Motor Speedway. Throughout most of the Top 16, there were several ‘One More Time’ battles, and one driver in particular doing a tremendous amount of drift battling over the day was Scion Racing driver, Ken Gushi in the GReddy Racing FR-S.
Against Ryan Tuerck, Gushi went up to the maximum of two OMTs, and a single OMT against Kenny Moen, then another two OMTs against Daigo Saito before finding himself in the finals, where he came in just shy behind Masashi Yokoi. Gushi’s Second place finish pushed him into Second place overall in the Formula Drift Championship points standings, just behind Fredric Aasbo.
Though Gushi will need to qualify high in Irwindale and win the event to stand a solid fighting chance against Aasbo, we have seen stranger things happen at the House of Drift. Come October, it’s going to be a mad house and nail biting until the very end…

Rockstar Energy Drink driver tops Formula Drift standings heading into final round
Fredric Aasbo extended his lead in the 2015 Formula Drift Championship this weekend in Texas putting him in a strong points position heading into the season finale.
Aasbo has won three of six rounds so far this year and leads the standings by 80 points over fellow Scion Racing and Hankook Tire driver Ken Gushi.

The phrase, “Everything is bigger in Texas” is a fitting description for many aspects of Texan culture. Hosting 9 “One more time” rulings, the Top 16 competition at the 6th round of the Formula Drift championship was no different.
Top 32 Play-by-Play: Formula Drift Rd 6 Texas Motor Speedway By Driving Line
Formula Drift slid into Texas Motor Speedway for the sixth stop of the Formula Drift USA championship, the seventh of the Formula Drift World championship and the third on the Pro 2 championship schedule. Making its third visit to the track (which sits just a few miles outside of Dallas, Texas), the layout from previous years was flipped into a reverse configuration, leveling the playing field for all drivers. With the new layout, drivers enter the track after a short 300-foot run-up, initiating sideways around 60 to 65mph into a long, right-hand sweeper. Judges will be looking for the drivers to hit an outside zone early in the turn, with a single inside clipping point near the exit of the turn. Accelerating in front of both the judges and the main grandstands through a ‘power alley’, drivers will transition to an inside clipping point before transitioning again to rub the rear bumper on a k-rail wall, finishing the course in another right-hand sweeper with an inside clip at the apex of the turn. Unlike many of the courses on the Formula Drift circuit, drivers see faster speeds in the latter half of the course than the first turn.
