Formula DRIFT 2017 Pro Championship Season Kicks Off in 4 Days in Long Beach

Long Beach, Calif. – March 27, 2017 – The Formula DRIFT Black Magic Championship presented by BlackVue Dash Cameras will kickoff the 14th Pro Championship season beginning with Round 1: Streets of Long Beach in 4 days.

On March 31 – April 1, drifting will return to city streets in Long Beach, CA. 3-time Formula DRIFT champion, Chris Forsberg in the NOS Energy Nissan 370Z will look to defend his championship and has teamed up with top driver Ryan Tuerck. Also joining forces this season will be Vaughn Gittin Jr. and Chelsea DeNofa, the winner of Round 1 last season, who will be piloting the second Ford Mustang RTR. Fredric Aasbo will aim for another championship in a brand new vehicle. Returning to the Series is top European contender, James Deane, who will be joined by top Polish driver Piotr Wiecek.

The event will also feature the AutoCon car show, vendor village, and open paddock for the fans. Each ticket holder will have access to their nearly 100 teams, displays, and vendors.

Formula DRIFT Teams Up with AutoCon To Produce Car Shows for Long Beach and Irwindale Rounds

Long Beach, Calif. – February 17, 2017– The Black Magic Formula DRIFT Pro Championship presented by BlackVue has teamed up with AutoCon to produce car shows at the two Southern California events this season. The AutoCon car show will kick off the season at Round 1: Streets of Long Beach on March 31 – April 1 and conclude the year at Round 8: Title Fight at Irwindale Speedway on October 13 – 14.

“The car show element of our events is always a great addition for the fans,” said Ryan Sage, vice-president and co-founder of Formula DRIFT. “By working with AutoCon some of the best vehicles in the region will be put on display during the Long Beach and Irwindale events.”

The first AutoCon car show will be held on April 1 at the Streets of Long Beach event as part of the Formula DRIFT season opener. Fans will have the opportunity to view hundreds of unique custom vehicles on display, enjoy the live entertainment, and much more. For show car participants, vehicle registration is now open on the AutoCon website.

Motegi Racing Super Drift Challenge – Event Info and Drivers List

The Motegi Racing Super Drift Challenge, which will take place both nights on the eastern end of the race circuit – turns 9, 10 and 11.  Friday’s action will include practice and qualifying runs, while Saturday will see the teams compete for a $25,000 prize purse.

Grand Prix fans that purchase any admission ticket for Friday or Saturday racing activities will be able to see that night’s Motegi Racing Super Drift Challenge.
